We are Here to Help

We understand that life in a foreign country can be a great challenge for students.

At Shakespeare College London we try to assist students with every problem they come across while getting adapted to life in a new city in order to make their studying and living in London enjoyable and pleasant.

Airport Collection
We can arrange transport to and from the airport of your choice.
Prices may vary depending on the airport of choice, and time of day. Typically, the cost is between £40 to £60. When booking please let us know the following details:
  • Airport, terminal you arrive at,
  • Date and time of arrival,
  • Flight number.
Health Care

Students on Courses of Six Months or More
Whatever your nationality or immigration status, if you are on a course lasting six months or more you can get free treatment from the National Health Service (NHS), including free examination and hospital treatment, from the beginning of your stay. Register with a GP as soon as possible.

Students on Courses of Less than Six Months
If you are on a course of less than six months, you should take out private health insurance.

EU/EEA/Swiss on Courses of Less than Six Months
Before leaving home get a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your own national health authority – this provides treatment for all illnesses.

Register with a Doctor
In the UK, non-emergencies are dealt with in a surgery by a doctor known as a General Practitioner (GP). You need to register with a doctor before you are treated. All students should register with a doctor as soon as they arrive in London. You need to find the closest surgery to your place of stay and contact them for an appointment to register.

Needless to say in emergencies all persons are treated equally, so there is no need to worry unduly.

Bank Account

We will help you to open a bank account by issuing a request letter on your behalf. Most of our students open bank accounts in the following banks: Lloyds, Natwest or Barclays.

To open an account you will need:

  • Passport,
  • Letter of acceptance or Certificate of Registration from the College,
  • Proof of your UK address,
  • Proof of your overseas address.
In some cases banks will accept your Student Status (registration letter) as proof of your two addresses. It's a good idea to have proof of your bank account at home.

Transport Discount

As a full time student in the UK, you may get a  30% Discount on your travel provided by Transport for London. To qualify for this discount you must be enrolled on a full time course of study which consists of at least 15 hours a week and  lasts for 14 weeks or longer. The 30% savings can only be made on 7 Day, monthly and longer period travelcard and Bus Pass season tickets.
Visa Extension

You may need to extend your visa / leave to remain (LTR) in the UK when you are here. You can do this through the college.

You will need:

  • Achievement Letter for the previous course of study,
  • Attendance Letter,
  • New Enrolment Letter,
  • Valid passport,
  • 2 photos, bank statement/or a letter from your sponsor and his/her bank statement.
You will also need to fill in the application form (available in the office).
